I have been dreaming of traveling to Europe since I was in high school. When the opportunity presented itself for Lucas and I to visit his sister studying abroad in Paris, we immediately started planning and daydreaming about the trip!
Being in Europe together after many years of daydreaming was SO surreal. We had a few bumps in the road along the way, but this 23 day trip abroad taught us so much and we feel so grateful to have had this experience together!
Our travels started with a week in Paris, France exploring as much as we could! Then we headed to Brussels, Belgium to enjoy fries and waffles for my 26th birthday! Lastly, we headed to Colmar, France where we explored the cutest little town straight out of Beauty & The Beast and enjoyed some German food while there! Lucas and I unexpectedly extended our trip and later headed to Nice, France to enjoy some sunshine and good eats. We feel so grateful that we had the opportunity to travel and explore new places together and are eager to plan our next trip abroad!
Take a glimpse into our trip below, complete with lots of photos of course 😉
Our first day in Paris we explored with our very own tour guide – Lucas’s sister! We enjoyed our first meal in France before wondering the city! Espresso’s were needed along the way to keep us awake!
On our second day we sat in the park by the Eiffel Tower and enjoyed some wine, a baguette and this pretty view! We got SO lucky with the weather in Paris! It was sunny and high 60’s every day!
When Lucas’s family joined us in France we visited the highest point in the city, Sacré-CÅ“ur! Enjoyed some baguette sandwiches and soaked in the views then wandered and found some sorbet!
Watching the sunset from our hostel was breathtaking! I mean just look at that view!
Later in the week we ventured off to Normandy for a day to visit the D-day sites and cemeteries. We had the most amazing tour guide that taught us so much. It was incredibly sad, but also so moving and thought provoking.
After our day trip to Normandy we headed back to Paris to soak up our final days there!
The Arc de Triomphe was MUCH larger than we were expecting! So incredible!
We had a lovely lunch with Lucas’s family at La Coupole! After lunch we headed over to the Eiffel Tower and traveled up to the second floor for a 365 view of Paris at the start of sunset!
We hung out at the park near the Eiffel Tower after sunset to watch it twinkle at the top of the hour! It was such a magical experience! Nothing compares!
After a week in Paris we headed to Brussels, Belgium for fries and waffles!
After Brussels we headed to Colmar, France. It was one of the cutest and sweetest towns! While we had quite rainy weather we still enjoyed the small town. We visited their little market every day for coffee, quiche, pastries and baguettes. We loved just walking around and explore the little town and I wish we could have seen even more of it!
We ended up extending our trip and heading to Nice, France to hang on the beach, lay in the sun and eat lots of pasta 🙂
Nice was absolutely breathtaking and we enjoyed the sun, fresh air and unwinding from our busy travels.
The view of Nice from the hike we took!
We still can’t believe HOW blue the water was!
This was by far one of our FAVORITE meals! We found this hole in the wall Italian restaurant and while intimidated we wanted to try to use the French we had learned while abroad! It ended up being such an amazing new experience and we are so happy did it! I had the Carbonara and Lucas had a Truffle Gnocchi. No words – just incredible!
We enjoyed our final dinner out at another Italian restaurant (can you tell we love Italian food!) and it was another delicious and fun experience! Our server was the sweetest and the food was simply amazing!
France, we can’t wait to come back and continue to enjoy your lifestyle, food and sights. We learned so much from this trip and again just feel so grateful that we got to experience it together. We may be planning to come back again in 2023 😉 Thank you so much for reading this blog post and taking a glimpse into our trip abroad!
I am so excited to share that some of these images will be available for print purchase on my site SOON! Stay tuned!
