5 Tips to Help Select Your Outfits for your Senior Session

01. When in Doubt think Neutrals and Pastels

When thinking about your outfits and if you are in doubt, lean towards neutral and soft colors! They are alway beautiful in camera and are perfect for various locations! Think white dresses/tops/jeans, beige dresses/tops, soft colored pastel dresses, tops, etc.!

02. Bold, bright colors are FUN, but try to stay away from crazy patterns and super neon colors

These patterns can appear busy in camera and neon colors can sometimes reflect colored light back onto you! But don’t let that make you afraid to have a pop of color in your outfits if it perfectly fits your vibe – we love to see it! Below are some examples of a fun pop of color!

03. Think of your location

Already have a location in mind for your session? Think of how your outfits might look in that location! Maybe you have a very green, simple location so a pop of color or even neutrals are great! Or a flower field and maybe a flow dress or skirt is the vibe you are envisioning! Or you have a more urban location and you are feeling a monochromatic moment or more edgy style. The choice is up to you! Ultimately pick the outfits you love best! We always encourage your outfits & location to uniquely reflect YOU!

04. Pick outfits that you feel GOOD in & TRY THEM ON

What kind of outfits do you feel really good in? Maybe you prefer skirts and dresses? Or maybe you prefer jeans and simple or unique tops, or a mix of both! We want you to feel your best, so choose clothing items that you feel comfortable in! And remember to keep proper undergarments in mind while trying on and planning your outfits! With this, The best tip I can give you is to try on your outfits! This is truly the best way to visualize them, move around in them and decide if you really love them. This applies for both current items in your closet and new purchases! If you have any concerns about your outfit after trying it on, then maybe pass on it and try something else!

05. Old & New Outfits

Don’t be afraid to pull your favorite outfit out of your closet and wear it for senior pictures! After all – what better way to remember senior year than with your favorite outfit! But on the other hand, if you are feeling like taking the direction of having something new for your session, go for it! But don’t forget to refer to the previous tip and try on your outfits prior to your session!

Bonus Tips

Don’t forget to Accessorize with Jewelry, Shoes, etc.!

Accessorizing can bring your look together! Think earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets! Have a watch tan line? Use some cute bracelets to help cover it up! AND don’t be afraid to switch it up with your shoes and have a few options! BUT if they are new, don’t forget to break them in prior to your session and/or get some bandaids ready and in place to help prevent blisters during your session.
