Hey Class of 2024! While you are still in your junior year, it is time to start thinking about senior pictures! (AH!) I know kinda crazy! But if you have a photographer that you want to work with for your senior pics, don’t wait to book them! Here at KAP we just opened booking and our calendar is already filling up! Typically by the end of May or Early June we are booked for the year and stop accepting new clients! So you heard it here first – don’t wait to book!

So, now that you have started thinking about booking your session, some other questions probably come up! Like what month and season should you take your senior photos? Class of 2024 will be my 10th year of high school seniors that I have photographed, so we know a thing or two about senior pictures in the greater Madison area! Let’s dive in and answer some questions for you! 🙂

SO! What month should you book your senior pictures in? It ultimately comes down to two questions:

When is your yearbook photo due? AND What is your vision for your session?

01. When is your yearbook photo due? A majority of schools in the greater Madison area have a yearbook photo deadline of around November 1st for yearbook photos. This includes Middleton, Verona, Edgewood, Monona Grove, DeForest, Waunakee. So with that in mind, it is also important to consider how long turnover is for your final photos! Here at KAP final galleries are delivered about a 2-3 weeks after your senior session review, BUT we also provide 48 hour turnover for a yearbook photo in the later fall months, and submit ALL of our seniors yearbook photos for them! One less thing you have to worry about during your busy senior year! Be sure to check on your High School’s Yearbook Website for the deadline! Sometimes school’s don’t release this until August/September, but typically they are around the same time as the previous year!

02. What is your vision for your senior session?

When you think of your senior session, what do you see? Pretty green fields? Fall trees? A warm day in the city? Lots of flowers? Your vision is an important factor to think about when deciding which month to schedule your senior session! June

Bright greens and simplistic summer vibes, a touch of small flowers popping up, check senior pics off your list nice & early!

July

More bright greens, fields and pops of colorful flowers!

August

Pretty fields throughout the beginning of August, flowers still popping up! Bright, colorful flowers tend to start to go away by mid-August depending on the year. But some flowers will always be around!

September

A touch of florals still present, soft fall tones starting to appear! September is perfect if you want the best of both worlds with summer colors, flowers and a touch of fall – even a fall outfit!

Early October

A touch of fall florals still present, and fall color starting to POP!

Late October / Early November

Rich fall color! Each year and location is different in late October & early November! BUT In my last 9+ years, we always find beautiful color through the first 1-2 weeks of November!

Yearbook Deadlines! Below is a general estimate of Class of 2025 Yearbook Deadlines based on last year! These are not official and can change, but they are typically pretty consistent and should hopefully give you a better idea of when to book your session. The typical turnover process from session day to gallery delivery with Katie Ann Photography is 3-4 weeks. But, we are happy to turnover yearbook photos quicker in October & November! 🙂
